The importance of Social Media Marketing

When creating a store on http://www.indiemart.com you will notice a few things about our customization. One of the feature that we hope will catch your eye is the ability to add your twitter, myspace, facebook or youtube account and integrate it with our site effortlessly. The IndieMart programmers did a great job of this with really cool icons, that are very easy to add to your IndieMart site. We wanted to emphasize social media marketing because of it's growing importance in the online realm. This will become increasingly more evident as you look at companies such as Google which is about to introduce "real time" search to be featured in Google's SERP. By creating a very simple tool such as a fanpage on facebook, you are able to drive your friends and anyone facebook recommends your fanpage to, to your site at no cost. Also if someone comes across your site on IndieMart and doesn't buy anything, if they become a fan of your fanpage this will bring future traffic to your site. From past experience with other projects that I have been involved with, a fan on your fanpage should bring you an additional 1 hit per year. While this might not sound like a lot, if you can generate 1000 fans on your page, you should get 3 referrals from facebook daily. That is a good start for a new business, on the web your traffic sources will come from many places not just one source. If you can use your Twitter, Myspace and Facebook account effectively you should be able to be fast tracked to a successful online business. We feel like social media marketing will be the new marketing method of the future and we are trying to empower our merchants to start using it now.

Why our Low Fees?

When you look around the online virtual mall world, they're many options to choose from. The one thing most of these sites have in common is that to create a store using their platform will cost you money. We wanted to be different in that regard, you will never pay money for creating an online store with 10 products or less.
I have tried to sell before on other sites, it is definetly not cheap. Usually you get charged a fee for every photo you put up and can only have your product up for a couple of months at most. BUt to even find that and a place that will let you customize your own store without a montly fee is unheard off, but it shouldn't be. We want people to take ownership of their stores at www.indiemart.com
We only want to make money when someone sells a product, and even then we don't want 10% of your sale, just a tiny fraction(2.9%) for any physical product which you ship and sell. Lets not kid ourselves, you are doing all the work. You thought of the idea, you put time and effort into creating the product, you are trying to promote your own business. All we are doing is creating a platform for you to do it. Believe me when I tell you if I ever find a way to lower our fees even more and offer you the same great product I will do it. The web should make stuff like this free, eventually we will get there with your help
